Who Is Alpha Counseling
Located in Poulsbo, we are a Christian home mission dedicated to serving the communities of greater Kitsap county. We do not charge a fee for services but instead are dependent on God, through our prayers and donations, to providing caring Biblically based Christian counseling.
Richard Maxwell
Is an ordained minister with forty years experience as pastor and counselor. He received his counselor training at Grace Fellowship International Denver, Colorado, and Atlanta, Georgia.
Alpha’s History
Alpha was organized by a group of Christian business leaders in September, 1977. Incorporated as a religious non-profit organization to provide Biblical Counseling. Alpha’s name was chosen from Revelation 21:6 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost.”
Alpha has had only three Directors of Counseling and has remained at the same location for twenty one years, reflecting the stability of Alpha’s foundation and the blessing of God. In 1993, Alpha’s board decided to no longer charge a fee for counseling and to never turn anyone away for lack of ability to make a donation. Alpha counseling is now dependent on God financially.
Alpha’s Beliefs
We believe in one God, revealed to man in the Trinitarian existence as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
We believe in the revelation of God through the Son of God, incarnate in Jesus of Nazareth, totally God, and totally man, as revealed in the inerrant Word of God.
We believe in the total depravity of man as a result of his rejection and separation from God, thereby producing the need for salvation through the atoning death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ, wrought in the life of the believer by the Holy Spirit.
